Water is a precious commodity for South Texas landowners and how they secure access to it is changing. Mr. Goodwin will review the methods to secure water as well as discuss the pros, cons and costs associated with each method.

3:00: Carbon Credit- Is it a viable option? Dr. Jason Sawyer, East Foundation

Beyond just being a buzz word in the news lately, could carbon sequestration increase landowners’ profit? Dr. Sawyer will provide an overview of carbon markets as they relate to landowners and important considerations prior to entering a contract.

3:30: Rangelands for Cattle and Wildlife Jacob Dykes, Texas A&M University

South Texas ranches have seen a transition away from cattle management towards strictly wildlife, but resource managers can successfully integrate cattle grazing and wildlife management. Dr. Dykes will review how managing for both wildlife and cattle can be an effective strategy for land stewards.
