Saddle up Texas Section Members as we prepare for our Annual Meeting in Denton, TX October 19-21. This year’s Annual Meeting theme is “Rangelands: Why Should We Care?” The theme is designed to bring out the “Why?” in all things that we do rangelands, but ultimately, the “Why?” those efforts are important to those who steward our rangelands and grazing lands in Texas.

Our Annual Meeting Co-Chairs, Dr. Jeff Goodwin and Mr. Brian Hays, are busy working on putting an excellent meeting together for the membership. Mr. Rob Cook and Ms. Meredith Ellis are designing a thought-provoking program of leaders across the State to push us to think of “Why?” we care about rangelands…but also, a program that can entice other, non-traditional, stakeholders into the discussion. Our tour is going to be fantastic as we will be visiting the G-C Ranch in Rosston, TX to learn how the Ellis family is working towards the sustainable production of nutritious beef products and the Dixon Water Foundation to learn about multi-species grazing and regenerative land management. Tied into the meeting will be those challenging opportunities for our students through Plant ID Contest, Undergraduate Range Management Exam, 3MT competitions and our Don Pendleton graduate competition.
