Experts in longleaf management and ecology from The Longleaf Alliance
and partners will lead attendees in this 3 day course consisting of both
classroom lectures and field instruction in “all things longleaf”, including:

• The cultural history of longleaf pine
• The role of fire in longleaf ecosystems
• Site selection, site preparation
• Artificial regeneration, seedling quality,
planting and release techniques
• Natural regeneration processes
• Stand management
• Managing for wildlife habitat
• Diseases and insect identification
• Economics, products, resources and materials
• Converting to longleaf from other pine types
• Groundcover restoration

Course Cost: $150 includes materials, field trip transportation, and
lunch each day
