Kyp began their position as a Research Associate for Texas A&M Natural Resources Institute in the Spring of 2023. Kyp supports a wide range of projects including avian biodiversity surveys, endangered plant monitoring, carbon sequestration, and grassland vegetation assessments across DoD installations and with private landowners.

Prior to this position, Kyp worked in California for The Nature Conservancy to evaluate the conservation effectiveness of experimental restoration treatments and later conducted invasive species management in Yosemite National Park for the Great Basin Institute. Kyp also worked for Archbold Biological Station to monitor and manage red-cockaded woodpeckers and Florida scrub-jays at Avon Park Airforce Base. They received their Master's in Environmental Management from the University of Stirling (Scotland) in 2018 after using LiDAR to study the effects of forest structure and age on bat community dynamics.

Outside of work, Kyp loves birding, Star Trek, and obsessing over their pollinator gardens.
