Katie Steffen

Katie received her bachelor’s from Appalachian State University in 2019 in Environmental Science with double minors in Biology and Spanish. She spent a few years working various wildlife and herpetological positions the Outer Banks of North Carolina, the barrier islands of Georgia, and in the eastern mountains of Oklahoma.

In 2022 Katie joined the Institute as a herpetological technician before transitioning to her current position with the herpetology team. Katie is currently obtaining her master’s at Texas A&M, studying habitat selection of the Plateau Spot-tailed Earless Lizard (Holbrookia lacerata).

In her spare time Katie enjoys hiking, cross-stitching, and painting.
