Andrew R. Gomolak "JR" is an NRI Project Specialist at Holloman AFB,
advising Civil Engineer and (active bombing) Range Management staff on
NHPA and NEPA compliance. He earned a BA in Anthropology/Archaeology
and a BS in Geography/Geology at New Mexico State University in 1978.
His plans for further university studies were disrupted by multiple
interesting opportunities.

At NMSU, JR co-directed the NSF funded Reclamation of a Vandalized
Prehistoric Pueblo. In 1978 he joined the Navajo Indian Irrigation
Project as Archaeology Lab Director. The next moves were to the
Jicarilla Apache as Tribal Archaeologist, to private NHPA and NEPA
'oil patch' consulting, then to Santa Fe to initiate an archaeological
program and policy for the New Mexico State Land Office. In 1990, AF
Space Command recruited JR to select, permit and document several
hundred remote operating locations for use by (then) classified mobile
satellite communications units. By 1998 his Space Command unit closed
and JR moved to Holloman's 49th Civil Engineer Squadron as the base
geologist/archaeologist. Over time he became the NEPA and NHPA
manager for the base and three bombing ranges. He retired from Civil
Service in 2018 and was asked to join NRI's continuing work at
Holloman.

JR is a Habitat for Humanity volunteer, including terms as Board
President, and has served on City and County Planning Commissions. He
and wife Kay have three kids scattered across NM and TX.
