mikayla.killam@ag.tamu.eduMikayla is a Program Manager for Texas A&M Natural Resources Institute whose primary focus involves conservation efforts for species that rely on military lands.
Mikayla has experience with restoration, land management, and land trust development from her time at the Katy Prairie Conservancy before she moved to Texas A&M AgriLife Extension. Mikayla spent several years at AgriLife as the state-wide Wildlife Damage Management Program specialist where she helped landowners across the state deal with a variety of wildlife related conflicts. Throughout her career, Mikayla has been an active member of the Texas Chapter of the Wildlife Society where she has served as a chapter officer and is often a committee chair for the organization.
Mikayla has a Bachelor of Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences and a minor in Rangeland Ecology from Texas A&M University. She is also working to complete a Masters of Range and Wildlife Management at Texas A&M University Kingsville where her thesis project is modeling shorebird foraging habitat in the Laguna Madre. She is a Welder Wildlife Foundation Fellow and a former member of their education team.
Mikayla and her husband live in Pleasanton, TX. In her free time, Mikayla enjoys gardening and spending time outdoors, preferably near water.
