Kelsey McCullough is a Project Manager for the Texas A&M Natural Resources Institute under the Military Lands Sustainability and Policy branch, specifically supporting the Strategic Conservation and Policy program.

Before joining the NRI Team in 2022, Kelsey earned both her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in biology from Kansas State University. Her undergraduate and graduate-level research focused on applying a landscape ecology conceptual framework and novel analytical approaches to address conservation concerns regarding an imperiled butterfly species. Kelsey’s professional career includes serving as a wildlife biologist on the Fort Riley Military Reservation, Cartographic Technician, and Natural Resource Specialist for the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS).

Kelsey’s research interests include applied landscape ecology, conservation biology, and spatio-temporal ecological data analysis and modeling. She is particularly interested in research that supports a proactive approach to conservation and unties the public with science. She has found that one of the most challenging yet fulfilling components of both her academic and professional career has been finding ways for working landscapes to coexist with our natural resources. Outside of work, Kelsey enjoys spending time outdoors, whether that be hunting, hiking, or taking care of the plants and animals on her hobby farm in Kansas.
