hailey.avalos@ag.tamu.eduHailey Avalos joined the Texas A&M Natural Resources Institute in 2025 and works as a Project Coordinator for the Empowering Land Stewards longleaf restoration initiative. Within this role, she is in close coordination with the Wildlife Management Institute and the Conservation Without Conflict Coalition. She received a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from the University of Texas at San Antonio in May 2024.
Outside of work, Hailey enjoys spending time with loved ones, cooking, reading, and hiking or walking - activities that continuously nurture her connection to the environment.

Nationwide effort to protect pollinators gains momentum

Pollinators, including bees, bats, butterflies, and birds, are vital to U.S. ecosystems and food security. These species transfer pollen from a flower’s stamen to its pistil, enabling fertilization and the production of fruits and seeds for plants that cannot self-pollinate. They support biodiversity and enhance crop yields, significantly contributing to the productivity of working lands and the economy.

One of the world’s largest and most experienced providers of timberland investment services recently achieved a groundbreaking conservation milestone by successfully reintroducing the federally listed reticulated flatwood salamander (Ambystoma bishopi) in collaboration with multiple agencies and partners.
