Giselle Mora-Bourgeois

Dr. Giselle Mora serves as the National Park Service’s liaison for the Gulf Coast Cooperative Ecosystem Unit, a research consortium hosted by NRI, Texas A&M.

Her broad professional career includes field, theoretical, and applied scientific research, university teaching, natural resource management, science and education program management, and outreach and partnership coordination.

During her 19 years of service with the NPS, she has worked at the park, regional, and national levels. Her experience includes natural resource management, interpretation, and education, as well as building and sustaining partnerships with federal, academic, and private organizations.  She also acquired experience in park management through temporary assignments as Superintendent of Congaree National Park in South Carolina, Freedom Riders and Birmingham Civil Rights National Monuments in Alabama, Ocmulgee Mounds National Historic Park in Georgia; and Black Canyon of the Gunnison and Curecanti National Recreation Area in Colorado. 

Before working for the National Park Service, Dr. Mora was an Associate Professor at the School of Biology, Universidad de Costa Rica.

Giselle received a B.S. degree in Biology from the Universidad de Costa Rica, and M.Sc. (Zoology) and Ph.D. (Zoology, Behavioral Ecology) degrees from the University of Florida.
