Dr. Yang (Lydia) Cao joined the Texas A&M Natural Resources Institute as a programmer/research scientist in 2015. Her research interest is geographic information science with a focus on cyberinfrastructure, geoprocessing, geostatistical analysis, geographic information system (GIS) applications development, map design and generalization and environmental modeling. She uses GIS technology on interdisciplinary research related to ecology, hydrology, natural conservation and natural resources management.

Lydia has a doctorate in engineering and applied science concentrating on geosciences from Idaho State University. Before joining NRI, she worked as senior research associate for the Texas Institute for Applied Environmental Research in Stephenville, Texas.

Lydia has been in Texas since 2012 and enjoys the sunshine weather all year round. In her free time, she loves spending time with her family, cooking, organizing and gardening.
