Wayne Pittman joined Texas A&M Natural Resources Institute in September 2019 as part of the Indigo snake recovery team at Eglin AFB. For more than 9 years he has been involved in natural resource management for threatened and endangered species at Eglin, with more than 5 years devoted to recovery of gopher tortoises on the installation. He is a permitted Gopher Tortoise Authorized Agent with the State of Florida certified in the excavation, transport and marking of gopher tortoises and has an extensive understanding of ecosystem management principles. Currently, he works in coordination with State and Federal regulators, Air Force active duty, civilians, and contractors to meet species and mission objectives.
In his free time Wayne likes hunting, fishing, playing music and being with friends and family.
