As a postdoc researcher for the Texas A&M Natural Resources Institute, Dr. Melanie Colón examines factors that influence habitat use, abundance and reproduction in wildlife. Her current efforts include investigations into the impacts of noise, weather and geographic variation on behavior and reproductive output in endangered songbirds. She is also interested in factors that affect species’ distributions and how these vary in time and space.

Before joining the institute, Melanie earned a doctorate in wildlife and fisheries sciences at Texas A&M University, a Master of Science in animal behavior from the University of Washington and a Bachelor of Science in biology at Florida International University.
