Cameron serves as a Project Coordinator ensuring military mission activities at Fort Irwin, California are conducted in compliance with all applicable environmental laws, regulations, and policies. The primary focus of this work revolves around the Mojave Desert Tortoise (Gopherus agassizii), which is protected under the Endangered Species Act and a historic resident of the Fort Irwin area. Historically, Cameron specialized in prairie and freshwater ecosystem ecology, with particular emphasis on animal behavior and a background in biochemical research. His current focus is conservation strategies regarding endangered species within the Mojave Desert, including the desert tortoise, burrowing owls, Mojave fringe-toed lizards, and Lane Mountain Milk Vetch.

He received his master’s degree in teaching, along with dual bachelor’s degrees in Biology and Biochemistry, from Southwestern College.

His interests outside of work include hammock camping in national parks, woodworking, and developing educational science curriculum for secondary education.
