Daniel King is a project coordinator with the Texas A&M Natural Resources Institute. He supports NRI by coordinating and overseeing research and extension activities as the ranch manager of the Rolling Plains Quail Research Ranch as well as assisting with the Reversing the Quail Decline Initiative. Daniel graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Business. He grew up with a passion for conservation born in hunting and fishing. Daniel plans to maintain his commitment to conservation and the research that drives it for the rest of his life.

Approach to Bobwhite Habitat Management at RPQRR

At the Rolling Plains Quail Research Ranch, everything points to quail. Our primary goal is to maximize “usable space” for quail on the landscape 365 days of the year. There is an important distinction for the land manager to understand when discussing the improvement of habitat for maximization of usable space versus creating an “ideal” habitat.
